This weekend, I took a wood planing workshop. If you are in robotics, you probably know the feeling of satisfaction that comes from working with your own hands, but somehow, working with wood and an old-school handheld planer felt like I was truly making something from scratch, even though I was just planing a piece of wood for most of the day. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey!
Point One Innovation Program [Sponsored]
Point One’s Innovation Program gives funded robotics and autonomy startups free RTK licenses, a dev kit, and hands-on localization engineering support to build centimeter-level positioning without standing up your own base station infrastructure. You build the future. We help you navigate it.
Beyond Cybathlon: on-demand quadrupedal assistance for people with limited mobility
In this research, the team from ETH Robotic Systems Lab presents a quadruped robot with a manipulator for people with limited mobility. The work showcased a shared-autonomy approach, in which the robot could navigate autonomously, while a human could control the robot’s end-effector via a mouth-level joystick interface. This work was performed for Cybathlon - a competition targeting assistive technologies and various mobility challanges. It’s sad that the event was discontinued :(.
SwarmGPT: Combining Large Language Models with Safe Motion…
I had lots of fun checking out this work at Bitcraze’s booth at ICRA. The system allows you to pick a song and prompt how it should be interpreted by a swarm of drones. It took care of safety constraints, too. If you like swarm robots, do check it out. The projects page includes a video of eight drones ‘dancing’ to Clair de Lune.
The Ingenious Fixes Keeping the Curiosity Rover Rolling
I love reading about the ‘hacks’ that space engineers use to prolong their missions, and this article contains a handful of interesting anecdotes. If you are like me, you will enjoy these stories!
Robot Learning: From Fundamentals to Foundation Models
Oier Mees developed this course and hosted all materials online. It currently lists 12 lectures (11 of which are available online), coding assignments, guest lectures, and papers for discussion. Love it!
Made an Open-Source 3D Printed Mobile Robotics Manipulator! 4WD Differential Drive and a Robot Arm with 5 Degrees of Freedom.
A /r/robotics user, milosrasic98, created an open-source 4WD robot with a robot arm that’s mostly 3D-printable and also open-source. You can learn more about this project by following this repository.
neoracer-v2
neoracer-v2 is an open-source, 3D-printable RC car chassis that could be a great starting point for small-scale autonomous car research.

I have to be honest here, I didn’t have Ecel being used for robot planning in my 2026 Bingo card, yet here we are.
